Anantapur

Also treat yourself to the architecture of Pallava and Chola dynasties. Have a spiritual sojourn at Prasanthi Nilayam or visit the banyan tree Thimmamma Marrimanu sprawling across 5 acres.

Chittoor

The district abounds in several prehistoric sites. The surface finds discovered here are assigned to special stages in the progress of civilization like the Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic due to discovery of tools in several places. The Venkateswara Swamy temple atop the seven hills of Tirupati and his consort Padmavathi temple at Tiruchanur beckons to every devotee. 

Known as dakshin kashi on the banks of Swarnamukhi River Srikalahasti is a splendid 100 pillar temple with a seven story Gopuram dedicated to vayu lingam (air element).  Hand-painted Kalamkari sarees and fabrics  using natural dyes is what Srikalahasti is also famous for

A beautiful scene plays out village after village in the rice bowl of Andhra Pradesh where the mighty Godavari, the lush paddy fields and a string of rice mills form the backdrop for a handloom weaving tradition that goes back many centuries

 The red fiery hot chillies of Guntur district has the largest market yard in Asia and has made the spicy Andhra pickles famous around the world. Known to be a cotton growing region from ancient times it has a large number of spinning mills and handlooms. Mangalagiri sarees, Sattenapalli and Isukapalli bedsheets, towels and mosquito nets are some of the handloom products

Kadapa

Considered the grand canyon of AP,  Gandikota in Kadapa district has a spectacular gorge that is believed to have formed between 50,000 to 1,00,000 years ago due to erosion by the pennar river. One can also visit the famous temples and 12th century fort and experience adventure sports like kayaking and paragliding.

Of the many clusters in the district, Madhavaram has a collective wedding attire for the bride and groom known as the Madhavaram madhuparkam. Simple cotton Jari and petu sarees are popular too. The moduga puvvu is used for the red colour border

Kurnool

Vast stretches of Nallamala forests cover the terrain. The famous temple of Srisailam and the Srisailam dam are located on the banks of the Krishna river. Part of the largest tiger reserve – the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve also spans this region.

Kurnool district has many handloom clusters but one of the oldest is situated in Yemmiganur.  Established In 1938, this society makes bedsheets,   lungis and towels

Nellore

Nellore rice is a staple which most rice eaters would relate to. The waterfalls of the  sacred akasa ganga at the foothills of Venkatadri Tirumala has been a source of water for Tirupati temple and a pilgrimage place. The 1500 million year old natural stone arch is an important landmark in its heritage and archeology. Sri Venkateswara National Park sprawls across 353 sq km.

Venkatagiri fort and town  have a history between dynasties but the iconic Venkatagiri handloom saree once donned by the royalty is now a household name

Prakasam

The 300 year old horse shoe shaped  step well in Mailacherla, Nallamala forest  of Prakasam district is an architectural marvel believed to have been built by two farmer brothers. This remote place continues to provide water to the nearby villages

Chirala also called ‘Mumbai of the South’ is a coastal town with clean and clear beaches. It also has a thriving handloom  industry producing zari sarees and dhotis

Srikakulam

Srikakulam, the north eastern tip of Andhra Pradesh, has the longest coastline with enchanting Kalingapatnam, baruva and Srikurmam beaches and temples. The Salihundam is an archeological site for history seekers. The Arasavalli Suryanarayana temple and Srikurmam temple are one of its kind. Travelling by train one can enjoy the freshly processed cashew at Palasa.

Ponduru a well known town and mandal headquarters is known for its handspun and handwoven fine quality khadi

Vijayanagaram

A place of many palaces, the seat of sanskrit, vedic learning, music and dance Vizianagaram has been an education hub for long.
