Handlooms and Handicrafts are priceless as products and in terms of telling stories of our timeline, evolution, history, culture, and tradition.
In our endeavor to preserve our legacy and see our weavers and artisans flourish, Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh provides this window to the world to showcase the rich crafts and weaves in contemporary and traditional styles and share their story.
Our Crafts and Weaves have stood the test of time, and are at a crossroad once again giving rise to new challenges. Moving forward with the times, adaptability, innovation to break out of the mold and reinvent to suit the mood and taste of today’s generation is the mantra.
Andhra Pradesh is rich in its handlooms and crafts with very skilled artisans whose stories have yet to travel beyond our borders (with a few exceptions). This vast industry, that only India can boast off, needs attention from all quarters to pick up the threads and infuse a ray of hope of self-reliance and promise of a glorious and vibrant rural India, the heartbeat of our nation.
Smt. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyaya founded the Crafts Council of India in 1964. She has pioneered many social and political causes but CCI has been very dear to her. She strived to enhance the working conditions, welfare and economy of artisans and weavers through skill training, marketing and innovation. She was a true visionary who sought to find solutions for the craft industry. CCI consists of volunteers who share a passion to work for the enhancement of crafts and artisans. It is a not-for-profit organization that has its headquarters in Chennai with 12 regional councils spread across India that are affiliated to World Crafts Council.

The team works as facilitators for weavers and artisans, creating marketing linkage, revival of languishing crafts, developing innovative designs while being in sync with tradition.
